MATTER, MEMORY & RESTORATION
International Workshop | August 3–8, 2026
Organized by Artelier, SIREH Center for the Study, Preservation, and Enhancement of Armenian Cultural Heritage, the Scientific Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, and ACCEA, within the European Heritage Hub project
This six-day program immerses participants in the conservation and restoration of Armenia's cultural heritage through lectures, guided visits, laboratory sessions, and fieldwork, applying Italian conservation methodologies to historic monuments and materials.
PARTICIPANTS WILL
• Work in the laboratories of the Scientific Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage on stone conservation
• Study illuminated manuscripts, historical pigments, and traditional materials at the Matenadaran
• Explore conservation of Armenia's iconic tuff stone through hands-on lab work
• Visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial, Garni Temple, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Geghard Monastery
• Learn contemporary heritage documentation techniques at ACCEA
Led by Liana Ghukasyan, the workshop brings together an international group of students and young professionals in heritage conservation.
