Yerevan goes out late and goes out well. The city has a jazz tradition that genuinely predates the current fashion for it, a club scene concentrated in the centre, and the useful quality of being compact enough to walk between most of it. Summer moves much of the evening outdoors, which changes the character of the whole thing.
Dinner in Yerevan starts late and runs long, and nothing else begins until it ends. Bars fill after eleven, clubs well after midnight, and the serious part of the night is one to four. Turning up at nine will get you an empty room. Jazz venues are the exception and generally run sets from around nine or ten.
Most venues in the centre are walkable from Republic Square and the Cascade area, and taxis via the local apps are inexpensive if you are further out. Card acceptance is near universal in the centre but worth checking at smaller places. Summer is terrace season and the best tables go to whoever reserved, which for the popular rooftops means a few days ahead rather than the same evening.
