Glendale is one of the most vibrant cities in LA County — home to the largest Armenian-American community, world-class shopping, incredible hiking, and a food scene that goes way beyond the usual.
The Americana at Brand (889 Americana Way, Glendale, CA 91210) is Glendale's crown jewel — an outdoor shopping and dining destination with a dancing fountain, luxury retailers, a movie theater, and some of the best people-watching in LA. It's beautiful at night and packed on weekends. Right next door, the Glendale Galleria (100 W Broadway, Glendale, CA 91210) is one of the largest enclosed malls on the West Coast.
Downtown Glendale along Brand Boulevard is full of restaurants, bakeries, and cafes — many Armenian-owned. Walk from the Americana down Brand and you'll hit Mediterranean restaurants, Armenian bakeries, juice bars, and dessert spots one after another.
Brand Park (1601 W Mountain St, Glendale, CA 91201) sits at the base of the Verdugo Mountains and offers several hiking trails with panoramic views of the Valley and downtown LA. The Brand Park Trail to Verdugo Peak is a solid workout at about 7 miles round trip, while shorter loops are available for casual walkers.
Deukmejian Wilderness Park (2777 Markridge Rd, La Crescenta, CA 91214) in the foothills above La Crescenta-Montrose is another excellent option. It has well-maintained trails, oak groves, and a stone barn that's become a popular photo spot.
Restaurants, bakeries, salons, attorneys, and more — all in one place.
