The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute sits within the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex on a hill overlooking the Hrazdan Gorge in Yerevan. Opened in 1995, it is the most-visited museum in Armenia and an essential, sobering stop for visitors. Through photographs, documents, maps, and survivor testimony, the underground museum tells the history of the 1915 Armenian Genocide and its aftermath. The museum adjoins the eternal-flame memorial and the towering basalt stele that together form one of Armenia's most important national landmarks. Admission is free.
