About

The Surb Khach Monastery stands in wooded hills about five kilometres outside Stary Krym and is the most important surviving Armenian monastic complex in Crimea. Its main stone church dates from 1358, built when Crimea held one of the largest medieval Armenian communities, and the complex includes a refectory that now houses a museum. Revival began in the late 1980s and it functions again as an Armenian Apostolic monastery and a state protected architectural monument. Open daily 9am to 7pm, admission free.
