Khachatryan Tennis Academy (KTA) is an Armenian-owned, family-run tennis academy based at the Burbank Tennis Center on Amherst Drive. Founded in 1990 by Harout Khachatryan and now led by his son, Andranik Khachatryan, KTA brings more than three decades of high-level coaching to the court — building a legacy of disciplined training, personal growth, and competitive excellence. The academy serves a wide range of players, from first-time beginners to high-performance athletes, with expert coaches, personalized training programs, junior development pathways, adult clinics, private lessons, and tournament preparation. Beyond technique, KTA places a strong emphasis on mindset, character, and resilience — shaping athletes who succeed on the court and beyond. More than a training facility, KTA is a community where lifelong friendships are made and excellence is a daily standard. Open weekdays 7 AM to 10 PM and weekends 7 AM to 8 PM.
Harout Khachatryan
Harout is the founder of Khachatryan Tennis Academy and the origin of everything KTA stands for today. A former top-20 professional in the Soviet Union with over four decades of coaching experience, he has shaped tennis at the national and international level — including leading the Armenian National Davis Cup team and coaching the Soviet Union's Junior National Team. Beyond accolades, his gift is the ability to see and unlock the potential in every athlete. He continues to guide KTA with the same wisdom, humility, and belief that the game can shape not just champions, but grounded, resilient people.
Andranik “Ando” Khachatryan
Born in Armenia and raised on the courts of Los Angeles, Ando fell in love with tennis at age 9. He went on to earn top regional rankings in Southern California and a collegiate scholarship to San Diego State University before stepping into coaching full time. As Director of KTA, he carries forward the legacy his father built in 1990 — blending tradition with a modern, holistic approach to player development. He coaches the whole athlete, building discipline, resilience, confidence, and joy on and off the court.
Tigran Martirosyan
A tennis veteran with 35+ years in the sport, Tigran was an All-American at the University of Kentucky and reached an ATP career-high ranking of 361 with wins over top-100 players. Over 15 years of coaching, he has worked with junior, collegiate, professional, and adult players, directing high-performance junior programs and developing nationally ranked talents. Originally from Yerevan, he moved to the U.S. at 15, attending Burbank High and playing at Loyola Marymount before Kentucky — and now brings that experience back home to KTA.
Alex Lordwalker
Alex is a Junior Development and Performance Coach with over 12 years of experience taking young players from beginner level all the way to elite competition on the Tennis Europe and ITF Circuits. As a traveling coach across the UK, Europe, and the Americas, he brings a global perspective to junior development — and a passion for shaping confident, capable individuals as much as strong tennis players.
Davit Ismailian
Davit is a former collegiate player and 10-year coaching veteran with 18+ years on the court. He competed at San Diego Christian College on a #10-ranked NAIA team and has coached at the private, academy, and collegiate level (including Glendale Community College). With an MS in Sports and Performance Psychology, he consults with athletes across the ATP, WTA, NCAA Division 1, and junior circuits — and has also worked with professional MMA fighters and nationally ranked junior golfers. Recipient of the 2016 ITA Arthur Ashe Award.
Patria Aziz
With 17+ years of playing experience and 5 years of coaching, Patria brings energy, passion, and purpose to every session. A former DIII student-athlete at Pomona-Pitzer and Assistant Coach for the women's team, she helped lead the program to two SCIAC Championships and a run to the NCAA National Championships. Inspired by Coach Harout and Coach Ando, she found her calling in coaching after injuries redirected her competitive path. She works with players of all ages, from kids in summer camps to adults in private lessons, with a focus on skill, confidence, and character.
Paruyr “Peter” Movsesyan
With over 15 years in the fitness industry, Peter brings a deep passion for health, movement, and performance to every session. A certified NASM personal trainer and CrossFit coach, he has worked with everyone from complete beginners to elite athletes — building customized programs around strength, cardiovascular conditioning, functional movement, injury prevention, and mobility. He also incorporates nutrition and mindset coaching for a well-rounded approach, and is especially skilled at working with clients recovering from injuries or navigating mobility limitations.
