The Sartarabad Dance Troupe is the Armenian folk dance group of Hamazkayin's Chicago chapter, founded in 1986. Its dancers perform traditional Armenian repertoire at community gatherings and cultural events in the Chicago area. The troupe sits alongside the chapter's Levon Shant Theater Company and its choir, so Hamazkayin Chicago covers dance, theatre and music together. Hamazkayin is the Armenian cultural and educational association, and dance is one of the most durable ways its chapters pass Armenian tradition to a new generation. Dancers who want to join, or organisers who want to book a performance, approach the troupe through the Hamazkayin Chicago chapter.
