The Tigran Petrosian Chess House on Khanjyan Street, by the Circular Park in Yerevan's Kentron district, is the centre of chess life in Armenia's capital. It has housed the Yerevan chess school since 1971 and hosts international tournaments as well as the national championship. The building is also home to the Chess Federation of Armenia and the Chess Academy of Armenia, which makes it the administrative heart of the game in the country. For families in Yerevan it is the obvious first stop for a child who wants to learn chess properly, and for visiting players it is where the federation can be found.
