The Tufenkian Historic Yerevan Hotel sits on Hanrapetutyan Street a short walk from Republic Square, and was founded by Armenian-American rug designer James Tufenkian as part of what the chain calls the first Armenian boutique hotel chain. The building is finished in Armenian materials and furnished with handwoven Tufenkian carpets. It has a pool, a conference hall and the Kharpert restaurant, which serves Western Armenian cooking.
