About

The Erebuni Historical & Archaeological Museum-Reserve stands at the foot of Arin Berd hill in Yerevan, beneath the Urartian fortress of Erebuni founded by King Argishti I in 782 BCE — the date Yerevan marks as its birth, making the city older than Rome. Opened in 1968, the museum displays cuneiform inscriptions, frescoes, weapons, jewelry, and household objects excavated from the citadel. Visitors can climb the restored fortress on the hilltop for sweeping views and a vivid sense of one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in the region.
