Le Petit Alep is a Syrian Armenian bistro and wine bar on Rue Jean-Talon Est beside Jean-Talon Market, opened in 1995 by sisters Chahla and Tania Frangié with Chahla’s husband Jean-François Potvin. It grew out of Restaurant Alep next door, founded by their father Georges Frangié of Aleppo, who met their mother Jacqueline when she came from Armenia to study in his city. The kitchen sends out mezze for sharing, labneh, hummus, fattoush, mouhamara, baba ghanouj and falafel, beef kebab with fléflé, stuffed grape leaves, kebbe naye and mehalabié, backed by a deep wine list. It holds a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Canada.
