The Levon Shant chapter is Hamazkayin's branch in Montevideo, established in 1978 with about 35 members. It offers Armenian language classes and cultural programmes, and it maintains the Shiraz dance ensemble. Uruguay's Armenian community is small but long established, with its roots in Genocide survivors who settled in Montevideo, and the city still carries Armenian street names and institutions. The chapter is where that community gathers for language and culture. Enquiries go to montevideo@hamazkayin.com or hamazkayinmontevideo@gmail.com, and activities are posted on Instagram and Facebook.
