Restaurant Alep is the older and more formal of the Frangié family’s two rooms on Rue Jean-Talon Est, founded in 1976 by Georges Frangié of Aleppo and now run by his daughters Chahla and Tania. The kitchen works a shareable tasting menu built on Syrian and Armenian cooking, with Quebec lamb braised twenty four hours and generously spiced, kafta in yogurt sauce, moutabal, mouhamara, samboussak, warm Aleppo cheese, hummus and falafel, and Knafé Bel Coco to close. Le Petit Alep sits next door at 191.
