At the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat — the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the oldest cathedrals in the world — the treasury museums hold a remarkable collection of sacred relics and religious art. The most famous is the Holy Lance, or Geghard, traditionally believed to have pierced the side of Christ, displayed alongside reliquaries, illuminated manuscripts, vestments, crosses, and liturgical objects gathered over centuries.
